Oh look it snowed. The plows didn't get there in time. Gee ya think the budget cuts caused the massive traffic jams? Where'd all the money the 10% fricking sales tax go? Todd Stroger's pockets probably. At least I wasn't in the middle of it for once. In fact I got both the long and short end of that stick during work. Yesterday nobody came in. Today they came in and were cranky and cold.

My argument against God was that the universe seemed so cruel and unjust. But how had I got this idea of just and unjust? Reformation and Phlogiston

Wow... out of nowhere I was reminded of Phlogiston. My first web site, it definitely was nothing pretty, but I sure had a ball with it. Then came The Link Site, Poindexter's Club/Anonymous, then guenthercorp.

So for that reason I renamed my blog. We'll see how long it lasts.

Well today kids is Reformation Day. A glorious day which resulting in the Lutheran movement breaking off from the Roman Catholic Church some 500 years ago. For the benefit of those who don't have a clue why this was important was that the Pope was selling indulgences supposedly selling forgiveness of sins. Mind you a few of the Crusades were fueled by this same thing thieves, rapists, and other criminals would get a clean slate if they participated in the retaking of the Holy Land.

The only man that can grant forgiveness is Jesus Christ. And its free. Long live Lutheranism.

In the Name our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

1. Our Lord and Master Jesus Christ, when He said Poenitentiam agite, willed that the whole life of believers should be repentance.
2. This word cannot be understood to mean sacramental penance, i.e., confession and satisfaction, which is administered by the priests.
3. Yet it means not inward repentance only; nay, there is no inward repentance which does not outwardly work divers mortifications of the flesh.
4. The penalty [of sin], therefore, continues so long as hatred of self continues; for this is the true inward repentance, and continues until our entrance into the kingdom of heaven.
5. The pope does not intend to remit, and cannot remit any penalties other than those which he has imposed either by his own authority or by that of the Canons.
6. The pope cannot remit any guilt, except by declaring that it has been remitted by God and by assenting to God's remission; though, to be sure, he may grant remission in cases reserved to his judgment. If his right to grant remission in such cases were despised, the guilt would remain entirely unforgiven.
7. God remits guilt to no one whom He does not, at the same time, humble in all things and bring into subjection to His vicar, the priest.
8. The penitential canons are imposed only on the living, and, according to them, nothing should be imposed on the dying.
9. Therefore the Holy Spirit in the pope is kind to us, because in his decrees he always makes exception of the article of death and of necessity.
10. Ignorant and wicked are the doings of those priests who, in the case of the dying, reserve canonical penances for purgatory.
11. This changing of the canonical penalty to the penalty of purgatory is quite evidently one of the tares that were sown while the bishops slept.
12. In former times the canonical penalties were imposed not after, but before absolution, as tests of true contrition.
13. The dying are freed by death from all penalties; they are already dead to canonical rules, and have a right to be released from them.
14. The imperfect health [of soul], that is to say, the imperfect love, of the dying brings with it, of necessity, great fear; and the smaller the love, the greater is the fear.
15. This fear and horror is sufficient of itself alone (to say nothing of other things) to constitute the penalty of purgatory, since it is very near to the horror of despair.
16. Hell, purgatory, and heaven seem to differ as do despair, almost-despair, and the assurance of safety.
17. With souls in purgatory it seems necessary that horror should grow less and love increase.
18. It seems unproved, either by reason or Scripture, that they are outside the state of merit, that is to say, of increasing love.
19. Again, it seems unproved that they, or at least that all of them, are certain or assured of their own blessedness, though we may be quite certain of it.
20. Therefore by "full remission of all penalties" the pope means not actually "of all," but only of those imposed by himself.
21. Therefore those preachers of indulgences are in error, who say that by the pope's indulgences a man is freed from every penalty, and saved;
22. Whereas he remits to souls in purgatory no penalty which, according to the canons, they would have had to pay in this life.
23. If it is at all possible to grant to any one the remission of all penalties whatsoever, it is certain that this remission can be granted only to the most perfect, that is, to the very fewest.
24. It must needs be, therefore, that the greater part of the people are deceived by that indiscriminate and highsounding promise of release from penalty.
25. The power which the pope has, in a general way, over purgatory, is just like the power which any bishop or curate has, in a special way, within his own diocese or parish.
26. The pope does well when he grants remission to souls [in purgatory], not by the power of the keys (which he does not possess), but by way of intercession.
27. They preach man who say that so soon as the penny jingles into the money-box, the soul flies out [of purgatory].
28. It is certain that when the penny jingles into the money-box, gain and avarice can be increased, but the result of the intercession of the Church is in the power of God alone.
29. Who knows whether all the souls in purgatory wish to be bought out of it, as in the legend of Sts. Severinus and Paschal.
30. No one is sure that his own contrition is sincere; much less that he has attained full remission.
31. Rare as is the man that is truly penitent, so rare is also the man who truly buys indulgences, i.e., such men are most rare.
32. They will be condemned eternally, together with their teachers, who believe themselves sure of their salvation because they have letters of pardon.
33. Men must be on their guard against those who say that the pope's pardons are that inestimable gift of God by which man is reconciled to Him;
34. For these "graces of pardon" concern only the penalties of sacramental satisfaction, and these are appointed by man.
35. They preach no Christian doctrine who teach that contrition is not necessary in those who intend to buy souls out of purgatory or to buy confessionalia.
36. Every truly repentant Christian has a right to full remission of penalty and guilt, even without letters of pardon.
37. Every true Christian, whether living or dead, has part in all the blessings of Christ and the Church; and this is granted him by God, even without letters of pardon.
38. Nevertheless, the remission and participation [in the blessings of the Church] which are granted by the pope are in no way to be despised, for they are, as I have said, the declaration of divine remission.
39. It is most difficult, even for the very keenest theologians, at one and the same time to commend to the people the abundance of pardons and [the need of] true contrition.
40. True contrition seeks and loves penalties, but liberal pardons only relax penalties and cause them to be hated, or at least, furnish an occasion [for hating them].
41. Apostolic pardons are to be preached with caution, lest the people may falsely think them preferable to other good works of love.
42. Christians are to be taught that the pope does not intend the buying of pardons to be compared in any way to works of mercy.
43. Christians are to be taught that he who gives to the poor or lends to the needy does a better work than buying pardons;
44. Because love grows by works of love, and man becomes better; but by pardons man does not grow better, only more free from penalty.
45. Christians are to be taught that he who sees a man in need, and passes him by, and gives [his money] for pardons, purchases not the indulgences of the pope, but the indignation of God.
46. Christians are to be taught that unless they have more than they need, they are bound to keep back what is necessary for their own families, and by no means to squander it on pardons.
47. Christians are to be taught that the buying of pardons is a matter of free will, and not of commandment.
48. Christians are to be taught that the pope, in granting pardons, needs, and therefore desires, their devout prayer for him more than the money they bring.
49. Christians are to be taught that the pope's pardons are useful, if they do not put their trust in them; but altogether harmful, if through them they lose their fear of God.
50. Christians are to be taught that if the pope knew the exactions of the pardon-preachers, he would rather that St. Peter's church should go to ashes, than that it should be built up with the skin, flesh and bones of his sheep.
51. Christians are to be taught that it would be the pope's wish, as it is his duty, to give of his own money to very many of those from whom certain hawkers of pardons cajole money, even though the church of St. Peter might have to be sold.
52. The assurance of salvation by letters of pardon is vain, even though the commissary, nay, even though the pope himself, were to stake his soul upon it.

56. The "treasures of the Church," out of which the pope. grants indulgences, are not sufficiently named or known among the people of Christ.
57. That they are not temporal treasures is certainly evident, for many of the vendors do not pour out such treasures so easily, but only gather them.
58. Nor are they the merits of Christ and the Saints, for even without the pope, these always work grace for the inner man, and the cross, death, and hell for the outward man.
59. St. Lawrence said that the treasures of the Church were the Church's poor, but he spoke according to the usage of the word in his own time.
60. Without rashness we say that the keys of the Church, given by Christ's merit, are that treasure;
61. For it is clear that for the remission of penalties and of reserved cases, the power of the pope is of itself sufficient.
62. The true treasure of the Church is the Most Holy Gospel of the glory and the grace of God.
63. But this treasure is naturally most odious, for it makes the first to be last.
64. On the other hand, the treasure of indulgences is naturally most acceptable, for it makes the last to be first.
65. Therefore the treasures of the Gospel are nets with which they formerly were wont to fish for men of riches.
66. The treasures of the indulgences are nets with which they now fish for the riches of men.
67. The indulgences which the preachers cry as the "greatest graces" are known to be truly such, in so far as they promote gain.
68. Yet they are in truth the very smallest graces compared with the grace of God and the piety of the Cross.
69. Bishops and curates are bound to admit the commissaries of apostolic pardons, with all reverence.
70. But still more are they bound to strain all their eyes and attend with all their ears, lest these men preach their own dreams instead of the commission of the pope.
71. He who speaks against the truth of apostolic pardons, let him be anathema and accursed!

73. The pope justly thunders against those who, by any art, contrive the injury of the traffic in pardons.
74. But much more does he intend to thunder against those who use the pretext of pardons to contrive the injury of holy love and truth.
75. To think the papal pardons so great that they could absolve a man even if he had committed an impossible sin and violated the Mother of God -- this is madness.
76. We say, on the contrary, that the papal pardons are not able to remove the very least of venial sins, so far as its guilt is concerned.
77. It is said that even St. Peter, if he were now Pope, could not bestow greater graces; this is blasphemy against St. Peter and against the pope.
78. We say, on the contrary, that even the present pope, and any pope at all, has greater graces at his disposal; to wit, the Gospel, powers, gifts of healing, etc., as it is written in I. Corinthians xii.
79. To say that the cross, emblazoned with the papal arms, which is set up [by the preachers of indulgences], is of equal worth with the Cross of Christ, is blasphemy.
80. The bishops, curates and theologians who allow such talk to be spread among the people, will have an account to render.
81. This unbridled preaching of pardons makes it no easy matter, even for learned men, to rescue the reverence due to the pope from slander, or even from the shrewd questionings of the laity.
82. To wit: -- "Why does not the pope empty purgatory, for the sake of holy love and of the dire need of the souls that are there, if he redeems an infinite number of souls for the sake of miserable money with which to build a Church? The former reasons would be most just; the latter is most trivial."
83. Again: -- "Why are mortuary and anniversary masses for the dead continued, and why does he not return or permit the withdrawal of the endowments founded on their behalf, since it is wrong to pray for the redeemed?"
84. Again: -- "What is this new piety of God and the pope, that for money they allow a man who is impious and their enemy to buy out of purgatory the pious soul of a friend of God, and do not rather, because of that pious and beloved soul's own need, free it for pure love's sake?"
85. Again: -- "Why are the penitential canons long since in actual fact and through disuse abrogated and dead, now satisfied by the granting of indulgences, as though they were still alive and in force?"
86. Again: -- "Why does not the pope, whose wealth is to-day greater than the riches of the richest, build just this one church of St. Peter with his own money, rather than with the money of poor believers?"
87. Again: -- "What is it that the pope remits, and what participation does he grant to those who, by perfect contrition, have a right to full remission and participation?"
88. Again: -- "What greater blessing could come to the Church than if the pope were to do a hundred times a day what he now does once, and bestow on every believer these remissions and participations?"
89. "Since the pope, by his pardons, seeks the salvation of souls rather than money, why does he suspend the indulgences and pardons granted heretofore, since these have equal efficacy?"
90. To repress these arguments and scruples of the laity by force alone, and not to resolve them by giving reasons, is to expose the Church and the pope to the ridicule of their enemies, and to make Christians unhappy.
91. If, therefore, pardons were preached according to the spirit and mind of the pope, all these doubts would be readily resolved; nay, they would not exist.
92. Away, then, with all those prophets who say to the people of Christ, "Peace, peace," and there is no peace!
93. Blessed be all those prophets who say to the people of Christ, "Cross, cross," and there is no cross!
94. Christians are to be exhorted that they be diligent in following Christ, their Head, through penalties, deaths, and hell;
95. And thus be confident of entering into heaven rather through many tribulations, than through the assurance of peace.

Guentherism v. Evolution

Ok, sure there's such thing as evolution within a species. It's called breeds, and/or survival of the fittest.

Then there's the evolution the liberal media, the school system, and pretty much the whole scientific community that shoves down our throats. Too bad they can't even prove it substantially. To make it even easier I'll use their own terminology.

Atrophy. It means everything gets worse on its own. So how can a species get better through evolution? It can't.

Carbon Dating. Carbon-14 is only accurate within 50,000 some years, so how can they get millions from fossil records? They can't. They're all estimates that span millions of years, but if it was truly accurate would they have it down to a couple of centuries? In fact so-called scientists don't even bother carbon dating them when they just estimate its years on how some fossil best fits into their preconceived idea of the evolutionary tree.

Then how do scientists get all their status and recognition? The same way artists do. Having a bunch of their friends and like-minded individuals say they're good. Then charge millions for their research. If it's expensive it has to be good!

Anticipation and the Tragedy of Zeros

I realized long ago that something that you get all excited about is never worth it in the end.

I was well aware of this before my first Homecoming. Prom, or as they call it at Lutheran high schools Jr/Sr Banquet, was no exception.

SBEMAIL 200 was no exception, I sorta looked forward to it and enjoyed it for the entertainment value it gave, but it wasn't the big bang I thought it'd be.

I guess that's all part of the American Tragedy of Zeros. The fascination with the number zero. Especially when they come together two, three, four times. The whole anticipation for the year 2000 is the clearest example I can make of this. The antithesis of this is how prices usually end with 9's. Like gas ending in 9 tenths of a cent. Prices at WalMart end with .99 just so people think they're a bargain lest the extra cent put you in the poor house.

Why should we put so much emphasis just because we live in a world that lives in a base ten number system?

The Maya lived on a system of 20.

Computers live in a world of 2.

So why should the rolling over of a place in one's digit bring such anticipation and excitement? Who knows. Maybe they like the looks of the 0. Maybe the fact its sometimes written with a dot or a slash through it? The chance of seeing on number three different way bring so much meaning to my life. (Take that seven and Greek seven with a slash through it, also connected and disconnected 4, and those roundy 6 and the 9 that sometimes weeble and some don't fall down.)

I'm Back! Fall 2008 season is on!

School's back and so is this blog.

This summer was quite fun, taking my first real vacation ever. Road trip out east- saw DC, Myrtle Beach, Ellis Island, Salem, Boston, Mammoth Cave, and Niagara Falls just to name a few. I took tons of pictures with my digital camera and I might get around to posting them somewhere.

This semester I don't have huge gaping holes between classes so I guess I'll mostly blog after school, but don't you worry.

Update: How about that... Obama Biden. Kinda sounds like Osama bin Laden. Not really, at least Hilary isn't on the ticket. Can't wait to see what stunt she'll pull at the National Convention though.

Check Up

I was seriously doubting my sanity for the past month but I guess I have nothing better to do than wage epic mental battles against myself. I lost if you're at home keeping score.

My first ever vacation that I can remember is coming up soon and I'm totally psyched. Crusin' out east for a road trip.

In other news, I'm working on my novel in my head, hopefully I'll get around to writing them well enough that I'll be glad to make them public again. So you'll just have to wait in suspense.

Now my rant: there's a 20's and 30's group potluck at my grandpa's church and my mother wants me to bring something. In fact she said something like I'd impress some young lady there that couldn't cook. The thing is I FREAKING HATE COOKING. If anyone asks if I can I'll outright deny it. I'm risking serious reputation posting it here. I definitely don't want to date anyone that attends church in Niles anyways. Although its a nice thought to find someone at a church rather than a seedy bar. Well too bad I'm still not going.

So that's it kids about a month left of summer vacation and I'll be back to posting a few times a week again. Funny how the more time I have the more I waste.

George Carlin died on Sunday, it was quite a shock to me.

I'll always remember him as Mister Conductor on Shining Time Station on PBS, as Rufus on both Bill and Ted's, and only recently did I discover his awesome stand up routine.

So why is it in Chicago the majority of people against the idea of a law that makes people do just that? Must be the Lassie syndrome. They want to see all the cuddly little puppies that they won't be able to feed and have to be put down. It makes perfect sense. Maybe they're trying to help the Asian restaurants come up with cheaper meat to lower the prices. Maybe they're trying for a more filling meal?

Happenings

Well its been a week since the last blog and what can I say? It's finals and tax time. While I only did have to spend an hour tops on taxes and I've completely waited on the finals, things are starting to clear up.

Guenthercorp is back up! On my NEIU site at least. After that it'll take a few weeks til I convert it to the way I orginally wanted it (skimmed for time restraints) but at least its on track!

There's a book sale today at the library I saw one book I kinda liked but not 4 dollar liked. It was also funny that they had an entire shelf of L Ron Hubbard books, most of which were still wrapped up. (L Ron Hubbard is the Sci-Fi writer that also founded Scientology.)

Foul-weather Friend

DISCLAIMER AND WARNING: The contents of this blog are of a whiny nature. If you are not interesting in my rant about the good majority of people I know in real life, to be further referred to loosely as "friends," please disregard this entry. To all those that don't mind, or bored enough to read the back of a cereal box, please proceed. (A comment either way wouldn't kill you!)

That's me the ultimate foul-weather friend.

Not that I'm in any support of this self given title but I'm pretty sure this is how most people perceive me. A browse to your friendly neighborhood http://www.urbandictionary.com/ placed this as their word of the day on April 8th. It had me thinking all day about it. It's me I'm a foul-weather friend.

Basically its the opposite of a fair weather friend. People come to me when they're in trouble as a shoulder to cry on or a sympathetic ear. Then when things get better they have absolutely nothing to do with me. They deny my existence and can't even offer me a pleasant smile or a pity greeting when we happen to meet.

Who do I have to turn to in times of trouble? Nobody. Who do I have to turn to in times of happiness and joy? Nobody.

Don't get me wrong, I'm pretty used to it by now and usually poke fun at my uselessness when it comes to any sort of social situation.

The Beijing Games are near so the protesters are out in force.

Yeesh last time anything like this happened was during the Berlin Games. Can't these people just ignore these stupid protests and just get into the spirit of international brotherhood and peace?

Oh who am I kidding the Olympic games just only perpetuate the adoring public to worship athleticism over academics. More brains for me I guess. Plus the TV coverage stinks and I hate watching them and they mess up the regular programming schedule so badly.

I definitely won't go to the Olympic games if it comes to Chicago, and that's a big if.

Few things to report. First Pizza Hut renamed themselves Pasta Hut. It seems like it wasn't a prank. I think its pure idiocy to rename their company because they added two new items to the menu.

Second on the menu is viewership of this blog has increased significantly. Course as such they're making demands. So I say to you... tough.

The Paper Bomb

Forget weapons of mass destruction, forget nukes, forget bullets, and instead imagine a weapon of much more destructive force... the paper bomb.

Both England and Germany planned to use this weapon during World War II. While the destructive implications of such a weapon are minimal its power is very real.

This is how the paper bomb works. You print your enemy's currency. Fill up the biggest airplane you can and drop it on them. Repeat as often as possible.

With a huge influx of money it will create hyperinflation within your enemy's economic status. It creates a vicious cycle that is very hard (and unpopular) to break. The country will have to print money to pay off its debts which only further lowers the value of the money. Soon news papers cost millions of units. Restaurants no longer can afford to reprint the menus with the new prices. Grocery stores will have to hire people to change the prices of items every 30 minutes. People will have to be paid twice a day to carry all the money they earn and have to spend it immediately since it holds no value if it sits around.

Perhaps this is why America is making our money look so dumb. People don't want to be seen with pink, orange, and purple money. Whatever happened to the greenback?

KITT's BAC

I was recently wasting company time with a coworker unaplty named "Boss" and talking about random gibberish.

I came up with an interesting concept. It KITT from Knight Rider is a automatic driving car wouldn't they have to check what its BAC is? I know a car doesn't have blood so we'll ignore that fact.

Since all gasoline nowadays has a contest of ethanol, which is a type of alcohol, it would be pretty easy for a car to have above a .08% alcohol level (Illinois legally drunk level). This made me wonder what the minimum amount of gas you'd need in a car for it not to violate the law. I guessed its about 5% with my crappy math skillz. I'd also assume at this level of gas the car would probably be out of commission.

Today's Lesson: Tripilla A and s3a0m2 are teh nubs in run escape. Don't be nice to them.

Bottled

I thought of writing right away what good bottle water has, but I'm not gonna back down. Not that anybody ever anywhere reads my blog.

Bottled water is probably one of the biggest wastes of money. No wonder S.F. banned it and Chicago taxes it. Course it doesn't say much since the governments have somewhat of an inside perspective on the stuff. Selling tap water is not exactly the trophy profit pony, but its about as likely they'll start handing out vouchers for private schools.

Not only is the content not regulated, so any guy with plastic bottles, a laser printer, and MS Paint could essentially come out with their own water label. My folks were into the craze a few months back since they got to the point of not wanting to have me fill those 5 gallon bottles of water. Course the supermarket they used to go to turned to its Hispanic clientèle.

They eventually went filter. Not that my father actually changes it half the time its supposed to...

Spring Break 2008

Well, thanks to Easter being next Sunday I only have about 2 days left to Spring Break. I'll take em as I get em.

225th post.

The most anticipated game (for me at least) has been released finally. The third installment of Super Smash Bros. is out in stores (well if you can find one, or the Wii to play it on). Great game but too bad I'm too cheap to ever buy a Wii. I'm especially not going to buy one just for one stupid game. I did for Sega CD though...

In Guenther related news: my presentation is finally done, looks like the stragglers actually decided to finish their pages. Check it out at http://neiu.edu/~jguenthe/chicagohome.html it's not awful! I will get Guenthercorp back up and running cuz I decided that make that my final project. What I'm going to do with it remains to be seen.

So I'm now just coasting to Easter Break. It'll be extra easy since I can sleep in a bit on Thursday. Oh and I've outlined a good half of my novel and completed the third story arc. I'm off to work on that now.

Oh, does anybody know how I can get my comments back up? It's kinda bugging me.

Computer Science

One of the first few things I remember in my early childhood was the computer my dad owned. He was one of the first members of America Online. I spent hours playing games on his computer, and many time he'd play a game where we'd hide a file on the computer and the other person would try to find it. A computerized Hide and Seek, if you will. I remember setting up a data base just so I could keep track of my comic book collection. When I was finally allowed to browse the internet on my own, that was a huge day. Two leap years ago I started my first web site called Phlogiston. Sure it was awful and full of nothing but inside jokes, but it all came together to show what direction I wanted to go in my life. I even took every single computer related course in my small country private high school with my graduating class a whopping 69 people.

I witnessed the .com boom. I witnessed its collapse. I watch the MMORPG craze start out and even still its flourishing. I saw Google start with an unconventional unlavish web browser and become something that even scares Microsoft.

The funny thing is that people of my grandparent's (and some of my parent's) generation take complete aversion to the internet and computers completely. I guess its the whole new technology thing that scares them off.

I have an ulterior motive for this blog however. Where do you think the future of computer science is going? Do you think the age barrier will ever be broken?

Secede from Cook County!

Fantastic, leave it to the democrats in Chicago to up the tax base again for the outlying suburbs. Kudos to Palatine for trying to secede from the county. Hope Oberweiss gets voted in on Saturday.

So what am I gonna do about it? Simple I live 10 minutes away from Lake County. They will see quite a boom from other families that have better things to do than pay for sales tax. For those friends of mine further south, you're on your own.

Too bad Wheeling can't sucede, but its not like we buy much from our hometown. Maybe Arlington Heights and the second half of Buffalo Grove can too. In fact, let all the suburbs break up and join other counties or make a county that lies all around Cook county and be lower taxed. They're always trying to make us pay their outrageous taxes. They're even trying to get all county residents to get a parking sticker even if you have to have a village one. Not that Wheeling has one, but I understand more taxes/fees = bad.

I'll now take an opportunity to flaunt the superior economic doctrine of the GOP. Less taxes doesn't mean less taxes for the government. Less taxes actually brings in new people! Employment increases! That and they have to spend a whole lot less to bribe companies to come to the county/city. Why should only the rich get tax benefits? Sure they have more political power than the not-so-wealthy but why shouldn't they? Money talks. I used to think the whole concept of money like the whole Star Trek Federation system would be best, but if you don't get any benefit to working harder than anyone else, willing to make sacrifices for monetary gain, why should anybody not be that slacker? Moral objections aside, I can't see a single reason not to slack off, watch TV, and live off welfare if I got the same amount of money as those CEO's that own super huge corporations. I sure did get off track!

Current Events

Well I noticed I don't blog much. Most of the stuff that interests me is pointlessly posted onto facebook. So if you're reading this and not on my facebook, you should approach me dear stalker, I won't bite.

Politics. Yep I'm pretty bored with politics hopefully the parties can finalize their candidates today. As long as Hilary doesn't get it, I won't be bothered too much. As the South Park episode goes "all elections are between some douche and a turd." Which is which you say? Does it matter? Quoting again but from a movie I didn't see is the tagline from Alien vs. Predatory. "Whoever wins, we lose." I don't think politics has changed a lot lot since the beginning of the country. Its nothing more than a popularity contest with each candidate claiming to be full of fresh ideas, trying to unite the two political parties by swaying a different way on the fence. It personally scares me sometimes how much power these people will get/have gotten/do have.

Is it even possible for the farmer to get a presidential nomination anymore?

Can just anybody (following the guidelines of the Constitution of course) be president?

Nah its just like those few weirdos on myspace or bookface or whatever social site, its just a bunch of crap. People with the pure desire to be popular. Politics has nothing to do with politics anymore. Its more about statistics.

Television Review

Tonight I watched NBC for four straight hours.

The first two were the season finale for American Gladiators. It was obvious who'd win, they dominated the whole time during the rest of the season. I like the setup they had instead of the 90's version, except I'm sorely missing the event Atlaspheres. Hopefully it'll come back in season two. Good show, but an hour of highlights and bios kinda over did it.

The next two hours was the Knight Rider premiere. Kinda had a lame romance factor, but the effects were pretty cool. Over advertised everything even The Hoff's cameo. I'd seriously recommend checking it out if you haven't already but I don't expect it to last long as a series.

Tuesday Recap

Well I voted for Mitt Romney the day before he dropped out of the race. Total bummer now no matter what its Liberal vs. Liberal in the November election.

Let's Not Watch

There's tons of reasons not to watch the so-called "big game" and few reasons to. Not to mention the fad of just watching it for the commercials which people are still feeling clever about. Why should you not care come Sunday? Here's my reasons...

1. Church- while the "Big Game" (can't legally say the copywritten name on most media so I'm not taking any risks) doesn't start til most church's activities are long over, people enjoy watching the prepreprepregame shows.

2. It's boring- you see one football game you've seen em all I say.

3. Heart Attacks- people are seriously having heart problems because of all the so-called anxiety they experience from watching said game. I have no first-hand experience of this... but there ya go.

4. There's probably something better on- self explanatory. Puppy Bowl on Animal Planet.

5. Commercials are stupid- there I said it. Watching for the commercials is probably one of the dumbest things I've ever heard. Those are the parts of the show I usually have my eyes glaze over or get distracted by something more interesting... like the dog sleeping and doing nothing.

6. It's overly hyped- think about those early year so-called gotta see flicks. They all stink. Publicity is usually a good sign that a show/movie/sports event needs to fool people that a boring piece of bleep is worth watching. The best shows don't even need to advertise.

7. Too much money spent on ads- I don't trust an event they charge so much for ads on. Or the fact people spend millions on a sport that people actually make careers out of. A stupid career plan, if I say so myself. It's much worse than wanting to be a minister. Both take no speaking skills whatsoever.

8. Fatty foods- most people watching said sports events feel some weird desire to load up on the salty fatty snacks to sit and watch the game. Sitting plus super fattening foods leads to extra heart attacks making reason 2 all the more strong. Something weird about supporting professional sports when you're a fat lazy couch potato who never touched a football in his life.

That's all I can think of I'm sure there's tons more reasons not to watch. Don't be feeling smug Valentine's Day... your time for a beat down is coming soon.

Seven Days

That's right kids only 7 days until Super Tuesday!

21 states hold their primaries this day. I highly suggest you get out and vote. As for me, I'm still considering voting for Obama just so Clinton doesn't win. Then again, I in no way endorse him. Ron Paul sounds pretty good to me with his whole campaign based on lower taxes. Huckabee sounds good also with his strong Christian morals. So I'll have to look into these two. Either way, come November I'll vote GOP again.

Ah the Republican party, how hated you are by the media. From an economic stand point they only differ on their stimulus programs. GOP rather put money in the private sector to spend, while the demoncranks... err democrats... are more into government spending. Both get the job done, but all the people I've ever met on Social Security are lazy bums mooching and taking advantage of the system. I'm sure there's millions that need the system. For others its a crutch. Others still its a golden ticket. Working as a cashier part-time there's a huge majority of WIC and Food Stamps users of a certain minority. I'm just stating my perceptions.

Then again its my blog and I'll be as racist as I want.

Check that Ingredient List!

Watch out in your favorite beverages that they don't contain both bonzoate salt and ascorbic acid (vitamin C) these two ingredients react and become benzene, a cancer-causing chemical.

Quantum of Solace

Bond 22's official name has been announced, its Quantum of Solace.

I think the title makes no sense, but is much better than the "Gold" names or the ones that parody popular sayings. Looks like they wanted to make it sound more academic by stringing together huge words together.

This Client Side Web Development class I'm taking this year is pretty nice. It's inspiring me to want to finally revamp guenthercorp. Then again I must realize what I'm trying to do with it. Perhaps I should use it to parody. Maybe I should have the same usual random nonsense. Maybe both.

Either way look forward to a friendly better looking site.

Gift Cards

I shall talk about the so-called universal gift... the gift card.

Many people think this is the last resort in gift giving, and I'll agree. Some take it as the first resort. I don't enjoy gift cards as gifts. It just screams "I have no idea what you like." Then again there is some risk, what if you give a gift card to a place they never go. Recently I was given a gift card to the "golden arches". It's rare enough I go to some fast food place, and its super mega rare I go to that one previously mentioned place. Though I do enjoy their seasonal double fish type sandwich.

Well after a few years I've actually gotten to the point where cash is the best gift to receive, and DVD's are the best to give. For friends though, they don't get any gift. I'm beyond the whole party phase and being a nondrinker I don't go to the parties people my age enjoy going to.

So in conclusion give me cash. Or a check. Or a gift card to pretty much any place. I'm not guaranteeing I'll actually use it.

One of my fond memories is the time I charged 7 cents on my credit card at that one place I work at.

Spam and Clay

Today's Feature is about this blog.

I'm all for Monty Python and the Holy Grail. I'm minorly interested in the fact they made a Broadway musical about it called "Spamalot" and one day maybe I'll think about seeing it.

I'm quite surprised that they're casting Clay Aiken as Sir Robin. At first this very idea appalled and offended me, but after further though about the character its quite amusing. Sir Robin is the iconic yellow-belly knight whose minstrels follow him acting like he was so gallant as he usually claims. Sounds pretty acute for what most people think about Clay Aiken-- as an effeminate wuss.

Then again after his appearance on "Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader?" I've found out he isn't all that bad, he's pretty smart too. I hold nothing against a guy that, despite not actually winning American Idol, did cash in on his talent. Which is sell-out by default, but money talks.

You know you're lazy when...

Bond 22

Some how that name is a lot loss pizzazz than the eventual full title that will be given to the film. 22 Bond movies. None of them can hold my attention. Sorry.

Yet every parody of Bond has caught my attention and keeps me interested enough to watch it. Namely Austin Powers and Johnny English. Both great movies/series by a lot better actors. Exempt from that claim is Sean Connery, best bond ever.

Back to School

Hmmm I could swear I placed ads on this page to create revenue...

Anyways, school resumes tomorrow. Pretty sweet schedule too. Hopefully I can make a bunch of updates to my novel. Sweet.
