Back in my frosh year at NIU, I remember how there was absolutely no WELS presence there for student outreach.
That still didn't stop them from begging for donations to help college students. Maybe they have college student outreach at the synod sponsored colleges.
Sure it came off as selfish, but I really don't feel like supporting charities that I could be getting some benefit off of, but don't. Just like when some Autism organization comes to collect monies I say, where was their help for my brother?
Conversely I will remember those that have supported me in times of need when I do have means to help them back. The WELS is not on that list.

More Flags More Fun
According to the commercials, sitting in front of a TV is "one flag" worth of fun. Being on a roller coaster is "six flags."
Let's say you go to the amusement park for say, 10 hours. You can probably at most hit up 10 rides of varying popularity and line length. An hour long wait at "zero flags" for a 5 minute ride at "six flags". Doing some lazy calculations, You're spending one tenth of your time doing "six flags" worth of fun. Conversely, nine hours are at "zero flags".
(6 * .5 + 9 * 0)/10 = .3 "flags"
Mind you this makes no effort to deem how much negative flags worth of work it takes to earn the 100 bucks you're most likely to spend on tickets and food.
I dunno 'bout you, but sitting in front of the couch at "one flag" worth of fun wins.
Maybe this would've been funnier as a comic.

Dimensional Theory/Why Time Travel Behaves Differently
The only way to manipulate any given dimension is to influence it from it's next dimension. As a result if you change the fifth dimension in order to displace time you only move the intersecting point of where everything is at that given time. However because of this, you can't change time. You only relive it.
The fifth dimension is a tesseract, basically bending space much like a string to travel from one point to another quite rapidly, thus teleportation.
The sixth dimension however allows transferring among different possible timelines. Thus when you manipulate time at this level, you can change the future. Your own "home" future is no longer available to you, and as such time travel essentially doesn't change anything for where you belong. It just transfers you to another timeline, of infinite number, where things go your way.
But you still haven't changed anything. Only for you.

Have you Returned?!
I just saw a commercial for Six Flags... big deal, right?
Looks like the character of Mr. Six is back! I'm not sure if he's the same actor who played him, and he has a weird sounding voice to boot.
Oh well, Mr Six. Glad to see you back in these parts.

You'd Pick A if it Were A Real Choice
Would you rather earn:
A. $100,000 when everyone around you makes $50,000?
B. $200,000 when everyone around you makes $400,000?
Most people would pick A. Explanation is up to the student.

Excel excells
Projections for tonight's exam:
If I score 92% or higher I get an A.
If I score 38% to 91% I get a B.
If I get a 0 (impossible) I'll get a C.
They're all passing grades. :)

Monument to My Greatness
"After I'm dead I'd rather have people ask why I have no monument than why I have one."
-Cato the Elder
This quote is just so profound... I'm still speechless.
